[SATLUG] Re: lessons on tar.gz files

The tar.gz file is an archive and can contain source code or a binary.
As for installing the previous poster is correct - you don't install a
tar.gz, you unpack it and deal with the contents, be they source code or
a binary of some sort. 

If you are talking about .tgz files, those can be installed because
those are installation packages for Slackware. Wasn't sure what you
meant, so I posted both examples.
