[SATLUG] sound prob on new linux box

I had an MSI board with the AC'97 sound. Noticed a few things:
1) ALSA did not work well, OSS worked perfectedly.
2) Mixer settings always act weird from the beginning.
Check those two things -- not sure how do it with the Red Hat based distros.
Just out of curiosity, which MSI board do you have?
