I've yet to encounter the advocacy group that I subsequently wish I
hadn't...  When the advocacy newsgroups first showed up in USENET, my
initial reaction was, "Great!  Now the religious zealots have a place
to hang, and the signal to noise ratio in the technical newsgroups
should improve tremendously."  For what it's worth, I agree that
Linux (or any other) advocacy isn't necessarily "pushing an arrogant
elitist stance".  It only seems that way to folks who haven't already
been converted :-).
