Well, actually I was comparing the memory footprints of VS6 and XEmacs
on Windows 2K. I thought it was pretty clear.

No I got it.

Of course vi and emacs can do this stuff. Any intermediate/advanced
vi/emacs user knows that. Othniel said he wasn't aware of any Windows
editor that could do this stuff.

Maybe you recall this sentence fragment from his email:
"I don't recall ever seeing a Windows text editor that supported
anything more advanced than"

The rest of his message was cut off. However, I concluded that he was
not aware of any Windows editor that supported these features. So I
responded with a counter-example that showed that VS6 also contained
these features. I suspect that Visual Slick Edit also supports these
features however, I have never used it.

You Patrick, took exception to the fact that I offered an IDE as an
example of an editor. I offered the memory footprint comparison to show
that the "IDE" and the "Editor" had about the same memory footprint and
therefore VS6 could be included in this evaluation. Granted the editor
that I used is XEmacs which, like its parent Emacs (remember Eight Megs
And Constantly Swapping?), has traditionally been a memory hog.

Regards,
Greg
