[SATLUG] Any thoughts on Proftpd?

Nope, no problems here using ProFTPd on a FTP server at work. I like
the customizability of what I can do with it. A few cool things are
bandwidth throttling and classes. Classes let you add rulesets based
on IPs or a domain.
