[SATLUG] SCSI problems with Kernel 2.6.7

Got a small problem guys that I'm hoping that someone can figure out.
I've got a P4 2GHz with 512MB of RAM with a DLT4000 tape drive
attached to an Adaptec 2940 SCSI adapter. It's loaded with SuSE 9.1
Pro and running kernel 2.6.5 default kernel from SuSE. It doesn't
matter whether I use Arkeia to try and do tape backup, or tar from the
command line, it will start writing to tape for a bit, then it will
stop and finally error out and take the card offline. I have to
offload the modules and reload them to get it recognized again.
Has anyone seen anything like this before, and is it possible to fix it?
