I have both a CD-RW and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM in my system. Both are
detected by Gentoo, but it puts the symlinks under /dev/cdroms (i.e.,
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 and /dev/cdroms/cdrom1). Note, I haven't tried
loading IDE-SCSI to do any burning with the things, so if you tried
that, they may be under a scsi tree, but if you're just trying to get
read functionality to start with, try loading without IDE-SCSI and
look under /dev/cdroms.
