I hate to answer a question with a question, but... why are you still
using mozilla 0.9.8 ? Even Debian stable (woody) has mozilla 1.0,
from more than 2 years ago. Mozilla as an organization is great, and
the software is excellent now, but it wasn't so hot back then. There
have been innumerable bug fixes and security patches since then. The
latest stable version from mozilla.org is the 1.7.x series, and most
distributions include at least 1.6.x. I'd strongly recommend
upgrading, or perhaps share with us your reasons for sticking with
0.9.8.
On the other hand, Thunderbird is gaining in popularity and is
currently at version 0.8. This is the email only client from
mozilla.org that represents future development of the code base and
should be somewhat more "light weight" if that interests you.
