[SATLUG] pkill question

Greetings friends:

Today I made a typo while trying to kill a particular user's processes
on our server. The command I typed was:

# pkill -u username,

I didn't mean to hit the comma, but it was close to the letter M, and
"mistakes were made". The server instantly locked up and cut off my
SSH connection. I have not had time to closely check the logfiles to
see what happened, but I'm guessing that somehow the comma at the end
of the command killed some crucial processes. Any ideas or advice on
this?

I have another question, which will be posted in another thread.

Thanks

Sean
