[SATLUG] OS Longevity

To those who mentioned backups - I do have a backup system in place.
We do nightly backups of the /home directory to an external USB 2.0
drive, and I also have a shell script that makes copies of most of the
config files for different services into my home directory so those
are backed up as well. Additionally, we have a twin server with the
same OS loaded stored at my boss' house just in case the place burns
down or whatever, we can restore the USB drive to the new server and
be back up and running in short order.
As far as updates go - yes, I have a non-production machine that I use
to test everything that I update with yum before unleashing it on the
production box.
Thank you all again for your help - I'm sort of the sysadmin at work
by default, not because of my great computer knowledge so it's really
helpful to have a list like this to post questions, etc.
