OK, but vmware is nothing short of amazing. Right now, I have installed
on my vmware the following OS's:
1. win95
2. win98
3. win2000
4. Solaris 10
5. FreeBSD
6. NetBSD
7. OpenBSD
8. Linux Slackware 9.0
I can run all virtual machines simultaneously (!), provided the
Linux host has enough memory, with my 1 GB RAM I can run 2 OS's
very comfortably, plus the host linux.
And: I can copy each virtual file system for each OS to another VMWare
setup on a different computer, and it runs as if it were installed on
the original box!
And: you can take snapshots of different states of installation and revert
back to one. Let's say your windows becomes infected with spyware. Easy
- just copy the previous version on top of your current version and you
are back in business.
And: All your windows installs are of course NATed. So no more worries about
hackers finding you.
If you *have* to run windows, you might as well run it out of VMWare.
Check out the attached screenshot for a look of vmware running
KDE 3.4 under NetBSD...
