[SATLUG] big file systems - tips, suggestions?

no lvm here, but I use 200-400gb drives, typically 3-5 drives, raid5, mdadm.

works for me.

I always build a second server with the same amount (or more) of space
that holds a full copy of the data plus it uses hardlinks and rsync, to
give me daily snapshots.

example:
-primary server is 600gig useable
-backup server is 800gig useable, with a full copy of data plus diffs for
going back 20 days.
