[SATLUG] mdadm: how do i destroy an array

I've unmounted partition. Stopped the array.  zeroed superblocks, removed
the array, then removed the partitions.

stopped/disabled mdmonitor.

I STILL get under /proc/mdstat: personalities [raid 5]


If I go and create a new raid 0 array, it'll show BOTH personalities.

documentation, google, man all abound with info on creating and recovering
arrays.

and almost nothing about disassembling one.

and linux keeps detecting remnants!!! arggggg.

What am I overlooking?
