Debian has an active AMD64 effort going, but it may not be officially
supported[1] in time for the next release. You might try one of the
interim install images, but be warned those are on the back burner while
the official platforms get closer to release date for Sarge.

According to DistroWatch.com, current releases from Fedora, Gentoo,
Mandrakesoft, SuSE, and several others mention AMD64 support. Ya pays your
money and ya takes yer chance.

[1] Debian platform support is a major commitment. AIUI, substantially all
of the main package archive would have to run in native mode.
