[SATLUG] apache default timeout for proxied rewrite

Howdy all..

Anyone know much about Apache and its' timeout value(s)? I normally
perform long-running operations such as recataloguing (read:
reindexing) and packing of my database(s) via a direct zope port, but
have abandoned this in favor of a proxied rewrite over https, courtesy
Apache.

The major problem that I have here is, a direct connection to, say,
:8080 will allow me to perform an operation that runs for, say, 2.5
days, without any interruption unless the browser crashes - more
common and less fun than it should be.

Anyone know of a way to make a vhost behave this way?
