If you note, most of the Dell laptops "split" memory.  A "256Mb" card is
actually 128MB Onboard with 128M Shared Main memory.  There are several
cards that do have 100% onboard RAM.  Any of the "ATI HyperConnect"
cards are split, while the higher-end (ATI Fire GL or nVidia Quattro)
are mostly not split.  Must read the fine print :( and YMMV.
