Laptop driver doom and gloom is distro independent, its all the linux
kernel, so its all the same suck (if anybody mentions Debian/
kFreeBSD, I'll shoot 'em ;))

Anyways, I've start to really push SUSE Enterprise or openSUSE 10.1
both professionally and personally in terms of Linux. Novell has done
some things wonderful I think redhat still can't figure out, making
rpms work, and distributing stuff that's USEFUL! (mdnsd, Mono,
optional proprietary packages, etc)

SUSE's repositories have a pretty good set of mobile computing
packages (all nicely grouped into the "Mobile Computing" category,
fancy that). That said, I'm running SUSE/amd64 without problems, but
not on a laptop.

That said, bring it ubuntu fanboys ;)

Cheers
