[SATLUG] MiniDV and Linux

I went out to Target this morning..got there about 4am
and hung out w/about 50 people for a while.. it ended
up getting a line all the way past Office Max (I think
thats what its called)..anyway I barreled through and
made my way to a Samsung SC-D363 for $179..not bad
since I was going to spend $249 if I didnt get the
deal.  While in line I was wondering if this camera
would work/be recognized under Linux.  If it didnt I'd
use VMWare and that damned Windows software to access
the camera/xfer the vids.  When I got home I installed
Ulead's video and photo software.  It crashed Win 2k
in my VMWare session.   No biggie..this thing works
perfect under MainActor 5.5 and I can even convert the
AVI's to MPEGS to save HD space.   That is one piece
of software that is well worth the money.  I was a
little disappointed with VMWare for crashing...dont
know if it was a VMWare problem or Win 2k, but I dont
really care.
