Independent of any other considerations, I'm sure cost of living is
high on the list.  $100K/year in NYC, the SF Bay area, Colorado Springs,
Washington D.C., etc. doesn't go very far.  Twenty-three (23) years ago,
the highest $$$ offer I got was from Hughes Aircraft out in Orange County
(Los Angeles).  The offer I accepted was for 20% less working for AT&T in
Oklahoma City.  Go figure...  I wanted to live in a house, as opposed to
a breeding hutch with a marvelous view of an 8-lane expressway.  These
days, someone would have to offer me at *least* 2x what I'm earning now to
relocate to either coast before I'd seriously consider the offer.  The
odds of receiving that kind of offer are better for a move to the D.C.
area, but still not likely.
