Just saw this article on Digg, and I'm not a GIMP or Photoshop pro (or even
frequent user) like you guys are so I don't know how applicable this will
be, but the GIMP's new core image processing framework that's in development
is supposed to support CMYK. Here's a link to the article:

And here's a quote from someone posting in the comments down below that
article:
"GEGL has CMYK support, plus lots of other color spaces and the ability to
easily add new ones. When the GIMP gets the new engine, it will have all of
the capabilities provided by GEGL, including CMYK."
Someone after that still mentioned a lack of ICC support, but at any rate, I
thought it was an interesting read based on what you guys have been
discussing!
