[SATLUG] Automatically starting X after logging in at command line?

I want to have Linux configured so that I log into my system at the
command line.  Then, once I've logged in, I want the system to
automatically start X windows.  Has anyone tried doing this?  I've
looked but what I seem to find has more to do with having a graphical
login for Linux.  Maybe I'm simply not using the proper search terms?
