[SATLUG] painless upgrage - AGAIN

Well, I just upgraded my Linux box... the hardware,
that is. (I had already installed Fedora Core 6 and
have kept it up-to-date with "yum update".) I had
been using a Gateway 2000 GP6-350 (Pentium II 350 MHz
448 MB RAM); now I am using a no-name box with an AMD
Duron 1.3 GHz and 384 MB RAM (64 MB of that is
dedicated to the onboard AGP video).
To make a long story short all I did was pull the hard
drive, network card and my DVD R/W and install them in
the other box... boot, BIOS setup, and configure X...
and I have the same system I was using before, but
faster, much more responsive. For those of you on the
bleeding edge my "new" box my seem antiquated, but for
one who does little more than use email, a web
browser, and open office this more than suits my
needs.
The point of the story is it's a simple matter to
transfer a Linux operating system to other hardware
(within the x86 platform, that is).
WARNING AND DISCLAIMER: I'm no newbie and I took care
to note my original configuration before transfering
the system. A change of hard drives and/or partition
structure would have necessitated other configuration
changes. Also I kept my original NIC because it's the
only one I have... same reason for the DVD R/W. I
did, however, add a USB 2.0 hub (my old system was USB
1.1).
Ok, so this was little more than trivial, but damn if
it wasn't the easiest upgrade I've ever done.
