Welcome to the list, Vanessa.  You'll need tough skin to deal with
Linux admins.  Here's a helpful suggestion - don't mention "windows"
as one of the available jobs:

(multithreaded programming, parallel processing, windows etc...to name a few)

You'll find that mentioning most anything Microsoft-related on this
list is akin to poking a wasps nest with a stick.
