There is a difference between a spammer and a recruiter. If she is posting
on the lugs in order to hire one of us , that is not spam.
Not all of us here are member of all the lug lists. If you don't like it
just delete it.
I am NOT saying we should allow spammers on the list.
But that doesn't mean we need to be rude to someone trying to hire a
fellow lug'er. Again not all of us are on as many lists and might want to
see her posting.
I get tired of hitting the delete button too.. but what may be spam to
you, may just in fact be a job for one of us here. You need to think about
more than just yourself in this.
Sorry if spam upsets you.. but that's what a delete key is for.
Thank you for your time,
Shawn Bender

If it was just a one-time thing on a single list, I would have done
that. On that basis, I did ignore her postings to the Austin LUG and
CTLUG lists, at least so far.
But repeating the same kind of activity for all known local groups in
a hundred-mile radius, that's a bit excessive.

If you want to deal with a known spammer, please feel free to do so.
However, I think we should strongly discourage people from casually
and wantonly spamming all the various different LUG lists in a
hundred mile radius, regardless of subject.
At the very least, if recruiters are going to post their jobs to
these lists (where the respective groups don't have separate -jobs
sublists), they should introduce themselves first and keep the
postings (and their .sigs) to a reasonable length. More lengthy
posts would only be appropriate if they were providing details of
specific jobs, and that should only be done once they've asked if
people are interested and/or have permission from the people who run
the list.
Spamming a rah-rah advertisement for your oh-so-wonderful bodyshop
firm to all known LUGs in a hundred mile radius of where you actually
work, is not a particularly welcome thing.
