Ok, you iso disc burning gurus out there... what went wrong?

First off, the linux machine is running SuSE 10.0.  Just yesterday, I 
downed the server, installed more RAM (stinking rambus ram 
configurations) and while the machine was down, installed the DVD 
burning drive.

cdrecord -scanbus says that the burning drive is:

No amount of "cdrecord (blach,blah) dev=0,0,0 worked, so I defined the 
drive, as reported in dmesg
