Not too far back, this technique would have probably been very
effective. Now a days, spammers target lower priority MX listings in an
effort to circumvent the more hardened, higher priority MXs. There are
a lot of shops out there who's higher priority MX service sits behind
various SPAM defenses. However, they have not taken the same measures
for their secondary, or tertiary (if established) MXs. Spammers have
learned this and have started by passing the primaries all-together.
Don't get me wrong, you may still stop the zombies and some of the other
SPAM, but the spammers are already making nolisting look like just
another measure in the heap of techniques a mail server admin needs to
employ.
