[SATLUG] Re: Local Realtor needs computer aid

Good question...I have friends in other cities struggling to find long term
work and the only thing that they can get are these temp companies hounding
them.

But my doctor's office was telling me that 20 of their patients that they
know of were laid off, and an insurance salesman friend knows of more than a
dozen from his church that have lost their jobs in the last couple of
months.

My old college roommates (who live in Illinois and Arizona) were telling me
similar stories about how many people that they know who have lost
meaningful paying jobs and are now having to work two jobs to keep roofs
over their heads.

I know the DJIA is over 12000 and moving up but I just don't see any of the
prosperity on this end. What I see is a lot of being who gave their
employers 100% (90% in some cases and 50% in others) and the companies don't
come close to giving that back in return.

It really hurt my girlfriend's feelings something fierce and her boss even
tried to console her by saying that it wasn't performance related.

Oh and my heart goes out to all of those who are on unemployment. How those
folks in Austin expect anyone to be able to pay their bills, keep a roof
over their heads, keep their homes heated, and eat with that paltry sum is
beyond me. $1300/month? If I didn't work two jobs already, we'd be hurting
pretty bad.

I gotta admit fellas...I'm worried sick. Thankfully I finish my masters
degree this May and I hope to find something that'll pay me more. I start my
thesis class this week. Wish me luck....
