[SATLUG] Video Driver Issue, Part 2 (Problem with a script file)

Not to get this confused with the on-going thread about the Linux Desktop (as good a discussion as that may be), I have successfully installed the NVIDIA video driver, but now I'm getting a strange error message when I tried to install the ATI driver on my other machine.

One of the first things they recommend is to run a script to check which version of XFree86 I'm running. When I ran the script, I got an error message. After a file search, it looks like I don't have a copy on my system (it isn't included with SUSE?).

Where should I go to get a copy of XFree86? Will it be something I will have to compile myself?

Also, I thought I remember someone mentioning some time before that there was some kind of software downloading/installation manager within SUSE. I looked at the various software manager-type programs in YAST2, but none of them turned up an install for XFree86 or anything else that was not part of the original installation DVD (except for patches & updates). What application would handle software downloading/installation (if any), and how would I configure it to look for other software not on the DVD?

TIA

Al Lesmerises
