If I'm shelling out $500 for a phone I don't want to "come to terms with
it", I just want it to work. Every feature on the Blackberry can be
accessed with one hand, without fiddling with a stylus or pop-out keyboard.
The pearl has a little trackball (hence the name) that allows you to do all
navigation with one thumb.
Personally I felt the design of the 8125 was a bit half-baked. There are at
least four or five buttons around the edges and sides of the thing, which
invariably get pressed if you leave the thing in your pocket or holster. I
would often pull the phone out of my pocket or holster to find that the
camera had been on for two hours draining the battery. I ended up just
disabling all the special buttons.
I also got the 8125 to the point where I could deal with it, but finally
gave up after the cheap touchscreen started to get misaligned every day. I
couldn't even get into the settings to fix the misaligned screen, so I gave
up and switched to the crackberry.
