In Synaptic you can search for (and install) Xfce or Fluxbox.  I'm sure
there's a way to do it from the command line but I'm a gui-centric kind of
geek.  On the log in screen click on "Session" to select your WM of choice
and Debian will give you the opportunity of making it default.  I used KDE
on everything except a 333 MHz Celeron and a AMD K6-2 400 which were both
marginally faster with Xfce.
