Do any of you guys know if a heatsink for a socket
754 board can be used on an AM2 board? Actually,
I think it is a hsf from a 939 opti, but it I
am using it on a 754 mobo. I am upgrading to AM2
from a 754 and want to know if I will need a new
heatsink.

Not sure without knowing the physical spec's on the
die's.

For a few bucks more you get the approved AMD HSF,
and "no le hase" warranty issues unless you overclock
or didn't attach the HSF correctly.

I just installed a Lima 3500 2.2GHz 45W and their HSF
is adequate, CPU temps around 32~35 C.

If you're not pressed, NewEgg should be having specials
on AMD processor's within the next two~three weeks ahead
of the release of the AMD X2 BE2300 1.9GHz & BE2350 2.1
dual core 45W processors.

They emailed a promo special on the Windsor X2 4600 65W
retail box for $98 (last night), however entering the
promo code did not change the price <15.00> from $113.

Patience can save dinero.
