good points.   and personally I don't think Microsoft is wicked, evil, etc.

Like you said, MS made computing ubiquitous, which in turn gives me 
access to dirt cheap commodity hardware, and a lot of people who need 
technical help.  In the grand scheme, they are/were useful for a lot of 
people.  They aren't so useful to me now.  And they are at the stage 
where they are hindering forward progress, as it's too difficult for a 
company that heavy and slow (at this point) to innovate much anymore.

Perhaps it's useful to label Microsoft as evil, wicked, criminals...but 
I don't really feel the need to. I run linux where it's useful, OS X 
where it's useful, and yes, I still deal with Windows XP and Office, 
cause every once in a while, after analyzing a customer's needs, as much 
as I want to recommend linux or mac, I have to tell them to stick with 
their windows setup.
