[SATLUG] Creating an ISO image

I am trying to make a backup copy of a DVD, and due to the copy protection, standard copying techniques won't work (I think we all know at least something about that).

I tried to create an ISO image from the original & then burn it to a new DVD+R disk, but the new disk won't play at all.  To create the ISO image, I used the following command:

$  dd if=/dev/dvd of=dvdfile.iso bs=2048

and then I used k3B to burn the ISO image to the DVD.

Is there something wrong with this approach, or am I missing something here?
