Score! If it's an older device, I recommend de-underclocking it. The
first generation of these have their CPU speed locked at 133mhz, but
by just removing one resistor on the board you can double it to 266mhz
without causing any harm. At some point linksys started shipping them
with 266mhz by default so you might not have to do this.
As far as the OS goes, there are several ways you can do it. If you
want to keep the original factory web-based control panel you can, but
being more comfortable with Debian I just blew away the original
firmware and put etch on mine instead.
