You need a newer libstdc++????  The current version in the book is from
GCC-4.1.2.  If anything, the current version is too new.

Post the actual problems and the appropriate output of the build
messages to the lfs-support mailing list.  You will need to register
before posting.

Does networking work?  Did you build a browser?
