Great.  So one of the damn fucking cats must have laid on the 
keyboard and somehow managed to send that message before it was 
ready.  Great.


What I was trying to say is that I managed to convince them to use 
real DNS and real network numbers as issued by the NIC.  And this was 
as late as mid-'95.

So, even if all this stuff was invented by really, really smart 
scientists and engineers for ARPAnet/Milnet/whatever, there were 
plenty of damn stupid idiots who were involved in managing the thing 
who wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

I've done some research on this.  It turns out that Gore did actually 
do quite a lot for the Internet as a sponsor and champion, through 
his various political positions and offices.  Maybe not quite as much 
as they're giving him credit for now, but quite a bit more than you 
seem to be willing to give.
