If you want to lug around an 8 lb laptop then you are right, you'll
get more bang for your buck. This thing is less than 2 lbs and has
nearly a 4 hour battery life, and boots up in about 15 seconds! I'm
lucky to get 45 minutes of battery life out of my T43 thinkpad. For
many people a full-blown laptop is more than they need for basic email
checking, etc. The eeepc will fit in a coat pocket, being only
slightly larger than a folded 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

As far as the drivers being included - they didn't word that part very
well. I believe what it means is , you can blow away the included OS
and install Windows with the included WinXP driver disk. I don't think
it's such a bad deal, esp. if you put in a 16Gb SDHC card for storage.
It's not the $199 they were advertising a few months ago in the press
releases, but maybe that was for the 2gb model without the webcam?
