My grandmother is 92 and cannot see well at all. She got a 32" LCD TV to
replace both her television and her computer monitor. Since Windows fonts and
icons didn't scale well enough for her needs, I converted her computer over
to Mandriva 2007, dual booting with XP. Now all fonts and icons scale well
enough so she doesn't have to use her glasses PLUS her magnifying glass
anymore. She can now deal with email and openoffice as well as sudoku and
freecell... much better than before. I haven't seen her use XP in 3 months :)
