[SATLUG] apt broken

At first glance, I would say to remove all traces of the custom
2.6.23.1 kernel.  When the initramfs-tools package is updated, it runs
update-initramfs -a -u which attempts to update the initramfs image
for any kernel it can find in /boot, even if you are not currently
running on that kernel.  Try that and see what happens.
