Not to nitpick, but this is not entirely correct:

Ubuntu actually installs the drivers first, then gives you the option
to disable them after you've logged in.  It would be better if they
had a short disclaimer during the installation that asked "Do you want
to use proprietary binary graphics and wireless drivers?  If so, check
this box."
