I believe that you're mixing a couple of different questions and answers from
the XCSSA talk.. (and usually, you'll get a faster response on XCSSA
questions by asking them on the xcssa.org mail list. ;) But I'll try to
address them and CC this over to the XCSSA list.

1) During Robert's presentation, you (or someone) had asked about installing
RHEL5 and then making it get all of it's patches from the CentOS repos. This
surprised me because I didn't realize that the RedHat source RPMs were clean
enough to do this (but I guess they are). Anyway, we said to google for
RHEL5 CentOS ans yum. In short, you remove the Red Hat repos from
the /etc/repos.d/ directory (don't delete them, just edit and change from
eneabled=1 to 0. Then follow directions here:
	http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7905

2) I think that the second question was in relation to the client and server
side of setting up port knocking. The info you seek on doing old fashion
port knocking is here:
	http://www.portknocking.org/

as well as single packet authorization w/a digitally signed packets, see here:
	http://www.cipherdyne.org/fwknop/

and here is the XCSSA member who presented on these (at XCSSA a couple months
back) as well as the Dynamic Firewall Project that he wrote and who is now
looking for a project maintainer to take it over:

Cheers,
