The only reason that it's possible now (and wasn't in the 80's and 90's) is 
that now PC systems have an architecture similar to that of the multitasking 
hardware of the Amiga with it's dedicated graphics chips and graphics bus.  
These Amiga-only systems are now approximated through dedicated GPUs on nice 
graphics cards with dedicates ASICs, RAM and separate data/address bus (as 
seen with the Agnus/Denise/ChipRAM on the Amiga systems).
