[SATLUG] What is the quickest way to steal space from a Vista partition?

I would have expected that to work, but you might also try the 
SystemRescueCD (http://sysresccd.org/). That has the latest version of 
gparted (even more recent than the official gparted livecd 
(http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php).
