Fellow SATLUG'ers

Johnny is going to give a presentation tomorrow night on SCALA. Below
is a short blurb about his presentation. If anyone could possible
record the presentation, we can post it somewhere that it can be
viewed by those members like myself that are unable to attend
tomorrow.

Jim Wells, President.

July 10, 2008 meeting:

If you need to do something and it is not in your high interest areas
then you can either do nothing, do what you have always done, or
listen to advice and evidence from someone whose high interest area is
what you need to be doing.

This month's SATLUG speaker has very high interests in the most
powerful and easiest to use programming languages. Come on! We all
need to do a little programming or web page development once in a
while. Even if you decide to do nothing or what you have always done,
it is well worth your time to get the advice of someone who has
programmed in dozens of languages and built web pages in a variety of
ways. If you want to be better prepared you can Google for "SCALA"
the most scalable language. Also Google for "LIFTWEB" if you want
lift tons of work others have done and apply it to web pages that are
scable and will perform much better than "Ruby on Rails."

Scala is very mature and easy although like everything it is
undergoing minor improvements. LiftWeb still needs a more user
friendly way to get started. But every other web development
framework is in the same category.
