Yes. Good Idea to run MD5SUM on all downloaded ISO files.
The K3b CD/DVD burning program checks this before burning.
You will need to download the MD5SUM file for the ISO. This is a small
text file.

The more common problem I have had is defective CD/DVD's for a number
of reasons.
I now run the "media check" at the start of the install everytime to
avoid bad installs.
The media has even failed after a successful install. Who knows?

If the MBR on a disk gets corrupted, then GRUB will not install
correctly and will not tell you.
My best "known to work everytime" solution is to use the disk
manufacturers tools and do a "low level" format on the disk and
re-initialize the MBR also. The MBR is usually a separate operation.

I've also had flaky disks that would be seen by the BIOS one time and
not the next.
Very frustrating.
