smartctl -a /dev/sdc
would be good to run.  That will give all of the smart parameters.  -H 
just checks the log to see if any of those parameters are out of 
tolerance.  A drive that has a motor going bad or one with a flaky power 
connection may not cause anything to go out of tolerance ( but will 
cause data access problems).
