Or take responsibility for your own services. Also, running a blog on
your own site ensures that they won't knock it down for "offensive
content." Finally, there are options one can use to mitigate security
issues. One is mod_security for apache: http://www.modsecurity.org/

I would much rather host my own data rather than offload it to someone
else. But maybe I'm just a psychotic privacy nut.
