My digital cable box has a digital audio out (both optical and RCA)
but my stereo system doesn't have a digital audio in. It does have 6
channel aux in, and I was wondering if anyone had any
ideas/suggestions to convert between the two. Currently my dvd player
is built-in to the amp, but am not looking at staying that way. I need
to get my better amp fixed, but would still be in the same boat-no
digital audio in but has 6-ch aux in.

Would there be someone that can be recommended to repair a Yahama
surround tuner/amp VR1070?

Looking to try to keep the price down, but I do have lots of spare
computer equipment laying around (obviously) and heard that the
digital audio from the cable box can be piped thru the computer to be
decoded into the surround. I wasn't sure how well that would work,
though, since even the source wasn't sure how to set it up and he used
to install surround systems long ago.

Thanks.
Richard
