[SATLUG] powersaving with Linux desktops

Oh yeah, saw this:

Decided to try "sudo aptitude install hibernate && hibernate"...

It ran the program, said something about no splash screen, and then just sat there.

AWFUL!

ctrl-alt-del didn't work, though it did print some stuff to screen.

soft power-off didn't work.

Had to hard reboot.
