[SATLUG] Monitor res in Ubuntu 10.04

James since the other monitor I have is also an SVA but 17" it is on an identical MB and CPU also running U-10.04. I ran those commands on it since it has accepted the 1280x1024 setting without prob. Dunno if this will help since we are way over my head here but may give you a clue:

Am I correct that this line shows that it is running at 60kh(+) but would prefer to run @ 75kh(*)?

this setting fits the screen perfect and I can see the image clearly.
Hope to learn from this experience and thanks for explaining what we are doing. I have made up my mind to take the course recommended recently. WTH I am only 80 not to late yet, lol
